BIOS / CMOS
BIOS/CMOS-Two terms that we use interchangeable have different meanings.
BIOS:
Basic Input Output System; refers to group of instructions that are vital for functioning of the system. These instructions consists of information about the components such harddisk, ram, audiocards etc that are connected to Motherboard of your computer.
CMOS:
CMOS is the name of the technology behind the chip that stores the BIOS related information. These days CMOS is technically called EEPROM (Electronically Erasable Programmable Read-only Memory). That means it can be rewritten and allows BIOS instructions of a motherboard to be updated as and when required.
